Follow Up To Thursday

Female Tiger Swallowtail (July 2018)

You know, there’s nothing like a whole day and night of prayer, study and supplication. Immersing oneself in God’s Holy Word is so refreshing. It brings what’s real and what truly matters into focus and lays the heavy burdens on my heart on His broad shoulders.

After what happened on Thursday last, Steve and I both gave ourselves up to our powerful loving Sovereign LORD in prayer and study. In one word, this is partially the message I received: Forgiveness. The message was so unmistakable. It was everywhere! In my Journey For Women daily devotional, in my husband’s Stand Firm For Men daily devotional (I read that one too), and on FaceBook. His love reached out to me to be calm. Forgive. Now, that doesn’t mean be a door mat. Oh no. He was saying, “Forgive your enemies. I will defend you.” [see Jeremiah 51:36] Wow. Ok. God will do that for me!? Me, a sinner, totally unworthy?! Amazing. I’m gonna trust Him. This is will be a new test for me because one of my many sins is to pout or get back in people’s faces when I feel wronged (real or imagined). Guess it’s time for me to grow up. 🙂

“He rescued me from my powerful enemy, from my foes, who were too strong for me.” [Psalms 18:17]

Here’s two of the FaceBook messages from The Praying Woman, Can I Just Catch A Break and Trusting God With Your Troubles Today. Excellent balm for a troubled soul. Brief too, if one has time to peruse it.

God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.” [Psalms 46:1-3]

I mean, who in human form could possibly be that kind of refuge!!?? No one! Only God the Father through the blood of our blessed LORD Jesus Christ can be that kind of strength.

Thanks be to my precious LORD, today is so much better. Oh, it still ‘smarts’ a little if I let it but the pain is gone. I will remember that He has better plans for me, and for my husband, and for you, dear fellow believer. [see Jeremiah 29:11] No matter what happens in our personal lives or with the Government or with anything else, He has better plans for us. They can hate us, defile us, lie about us, kill us, steal from us, but they can not stop what God has in store for those of us who believe in Him: eternal salvation with Him. [see John 3:16]

Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” [Psalms 46:10]

Wow, huh. So, thank you for your kind words and prayers. You’ve been very edifying and comforting. I sure felt the love. Prayers and blessings to all you too.

  1. I love that you’re here now…yes, FORGIVE. My favorite Bible teacher used to add “…but you do not have to FORGET.” Not in a nasty way, but a self-protective way one you’ve forgiven. That makes sense to me. The Psalms are the ROCKS, aren’t they…solid, always there, holding us up! So glad, Sparks! 🙂

    1. Yes, I agree about the not forgetting. We’re not capable of that. Only God can chose to forget. We should also remember as a protection.
I do find a lot of solace in the Psalms. Off subject, but I’ve been reading Nehemiah also. He had them build a wall! Sound familiar? 🙂 Yep. God says to build a wall for protection. Every other country on earth does that but us. Just thought I’d throw that out there.

      1. fascinating about the wall…I love that reminder! Thanks! And yes, “for protection”…Dottie used to say “We must forgive, but we do not have to forget….we don’t need to be hurt” Amen to that!

  2. Isn’t it great when “it” all comes together like that and you just KNOW that our Lord is speaking directly to you?! How awesome is that. (statement – not a question!) Love & hugs!!
