Friday Thoughts

Good morning folks! Spring has sprung in Southeast Georgia. Between the profusion of lavender Wisertia on the trees and the mint blooming in the cattle pastures with sweet smells wafting across the expanses, it’s hard to pick a favorite scene. The countryside is lovely right now.

The Confederate Rose (Hibiscus mutabilis) on the cemetery fence has finally woke up from a long winter’s nap. It’s not completely done blooming, but I thought I’d share what it looks like right now before the rain hits. I understand that the rose hips can be ground up and eaten for Vitamin D. Never knew that.

My husband’s niece and her husband have been renovating the kitchen in their old home. She’s been sharing the photos with us so now I have the redecorate ‘bug’ too. One of the items they have done is to make a special coffee klatsch in their kitchen from an old dresser. They’ve done a lovely job and it’s ever so practical. Now I want one! *lol* So, Steve and I went furniture shopping yesterday and found this:

Didn’t buy what’s on top of it. Those are separate items. ๐Ÿ™‚

That thing weighs a ton too. It’s solid wood. Our plans are to redo the top with tile or something durable, then place it over by the window with all our coffee maker, flavors and paraphernalia on it. I wanted to paint the wood, but Steve said “No”. He’s all for leaving it natural like our kitchen cabinets. Thoughts?

We also paid our first visit to a new coffee shop here in Pierce County called Southern Grounds. It was OK. Not as tasty as Cafe Euro in Jesup, but it was fun to do something different. The decorations were well done, I thought.

The pollen is almost finished wrecking havoc on our sinuses. It was time to wash the metal steeds. They were so yellow one couldn’t tell what colors they were! Now that the pollen has abated, I have to also pressure wash the house. I sure dread that. Tears up my shoulder and neck every time.

And, I don’t know who brought the lovely flowers at Church this week, I forgot to ask, but they are gorgeous.

Well, time waits for no man, nor even a Sparky with good intentions. Gotta go start on all our projects. I hope your day is blessed!

“For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again,
even so God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus.”
1 Thessalonians 4:14

  1. I love the piece of furniture you found and think it will look good as you mentioned. Flowers are blooming around here too and the pear trees have bloomed and are now blowing off and it looks like snow falling. Your flowers are church are lovely. You are always so busy – wish I had the energy to do as much as you do – it is all I can do is get out of bed….lol Have a joyous day!

  2. It sounds so lovely there! I’m all jealous of everyone having spring right now. Not of the pollen, mind you, but of all the rest. We are just starting to see things poke their heads up out of the ground after nearly 2 weeks of milder weather. We are sure getting the wind today, though. Last time I bothered to peek out the window at my Easter egg tree there were maybe 3 eggs left on it. Sigh. I always love those coffee stations people make, but we don’t drink coffee so no point. Have a wonderful weekend and start to Holy Week!

    1. Your Spring will be beautiful too, I’m sure, and at least y’all don’t have to put up with these little annoying gnats. Or, as we call them, extra meat. lol
Hope y’all have a wonderful weekend too! Jesus is comin’ back soon! Amen! ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. I enjoyed this post so much! Love the pictures…that cabinet is very nice…and if it matches your kitchen, then probably leave it that way…but if you want to make it a “showpiece” you could paint it some cool accent colors. Either way, it is very nice! I like the decor of the coffee shop too. I love that blue and white dresser. That is the style of furniture my son and his wife are doing now… Your bikes are beautiful! Wow! They look really fast!! You are very brave… And yes, those flowers on the altar at church are gorgeous!! Oh, I love the confederate roses too! Very delicate and pretty. All in all, I enjoyed my visit very much. I’d love to see it in person sometime…you have a beautiful place!! Happy Springtime!!

    1. I was thinking about making it a focal piece too with really cool colors. Steve said he wants it natural. I’ll go with that … for now. giggle
It would be cool to meet sometime. I would like to meet all my blogging friends in person. If it doesn’t happen here on terra firma, at least I know we’ll all be together rejoicing at the feet of Jesus one day. What a wonderful promise we all have!
      Blessings. xx

  4. Spring is looking beautiful there! I found my first crocus this week, but now it’s back in the 30’s here.
The pollen will be hitting me soon. ๐Ÿ™‚

I really like the cabinet you bought. I would like to paint it, Bob is like Steve and would want it natural.

    1. I still want to paint the cabinet. I think this will be a test of wills or a case of who has the most energy. Laziness will probably win out. lol

    1. You’re welcome. A simple e-mail seemed so lazy but life kept getting in the way this year. You deserve better. Praying that you’ll have a good day, whether it’s at work or play. Don’t let the bad guys get ya down. Their days are numbered.
