Thanksgiving, The Day After

The Far Side (click to enlarge)

Thanksgiving is blissfully behind us. It was a quiet, peaceful day in the Red Bird Acres household. We no longer have family nearby to grace our humble home in the pines. That’s OK. I’m thankful for what we have. Our meal was the perfect amount with some leftovers for today’s repast. It was scrumptious.

πŸŽ„ 🍁 On the Friday after, the Fall decorations will mingle with the Christmas ones as I slowly unpack the next season from it’s year long hiatus and pack up the Thanksgiving themes. All three Christmas trees are up. A fourth one may even make an appearance, if I feel like it and can find the room. I also decorate the dog 🐢 washing and feeding area. Hey, they want to be festive too! 😊 This morning it was dark, cloudy and rainy when we also helped for about an hour decorating our Church. Now the wind is howling, the clouds are clearing with the sun peeking tentatively through, and the air has a sharp crispness about it. There’s a cold front moving in. ❀️✨

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas. πŸŽ…

If you’re on the road, praying for traveling mercies all around. I hope your day is blessed.

  1. You are way ahead of me in having your trees up and decorated already! Love them! Today I am kind of just relaxing. Tomorrow I intend to undo Thanksgiving and start the advent of Christmas decor. Little by little it will appear, much like opening the windows on an advent calendar. I can’t do it all at once. I love the pictures of your Thanksgiving feast. It really looked good!! I love your kitchen too, and the pretty foil stamped backsplash. That is unique and so neat for your country home! I love that you call your place Redbird Acres. That has a comfortable homey country sound that I love. I know I would love it there too. Yes, it is supposed to be colder here tomorrow too. That will get me in the Christmas spirit for decorating! Have a blessed and wonderful weekend!!

    1. Please don’t do too much. You’re still recovering from surgery! I would let it go this year or ask for help. The more you rest, the sooner you’ll be healed. Your place looks gorgeous (except for the creepy dolls … lololol – just kidding). No need to do much more to your home, in my opinion. ❀

  2. The Far side is a good one!
Your Thanksgiving dinner looks very good, and some leftovers are a good thing too. I have some leftovers here as well.
We have 3 trees, one in the living room, a skinny one in the kitchen that just has lights, and a small one in our basement family room. The kitchen one is up, the living room one is up but not decorated and I haven’t started downstairs. I just came home from work and may start decorating the main tree. Yours look nice!

  3. Sounds like a happy place to be these days, with all that’s going on around us
if we were in a better place than we are now, I’d get festive as well but I’m not.

Right now I’m more focused on what’s happening around us going into the new
year Or different world all together from the way things have been doing.

    1. Oh, I totally get that. But, I’ve learned from living for 100 years (OK, it only FEELS like 100 years) that there’s no point in being upset, angry or worrying. I have to trust God through Jesus Christ that He is in control. Otherwise, I’ll go coo-coo for cocoa puff’s with the rest of the world. LOL I’m heavily armed, alert, prayed up, and living in a good place. Gotta roll with it. πŸ™‚
Keep looking up ’cause Christ is returning soon!
      Blessings. xx

  4. Such great photos. I am trying very hard to delegate and keep my mouth shut in regards to the decorating…go ahead and ask me how that is going, grin.
