YouTube Recommends

Does anyone else like to watch “reality” or other YouTubers? We do almost exclusively since cutting the cable with DirecTV a few years ago. (We use Google Chromecast to display on the television.) I thought I’d give a Shout Out to those that we like to watch.

First on our favorites list, as some of y’all already know, is Itchy Boots. This is a young lady from Holland that is traveling the world on two wheels. We’ve been enjoying her journey’s from the comfort of our recliners all the way back to Season 1 when she started in India. Noraly is already on Season 6 and traveling in South America, again. Her first attempt was at the start of the worldwide Communist China plandemic. She almost got trapped in Peru and had a narrow escape. Holland had to step in and rescue all their people there. It was very scary for her, I’m sure. This new Season has been entertaining. Equator and Columbia are so pretty. She plans to continue on north into Mexico, then the USA all the way to Alaska.

A new one we’ve been watching is titled Corporals Corner. This channel is put on-line by USMC Corporal Kelly. He shows how to build survival shelters and find food in emergency situations, what to pack, what to watch out for and the like. I know, I know. I’ll never use this knowledge (I hope), but it is educational, fun and family friendly.

When I’m feeling political and looking for current information we watch the conservative Liberal Hivemind. It’s kinda presented in an odd way but the presenter has to get past the Fascists on YouTube so he won’t be banned. There’s also Greg Gutfeld (Fox News) on YouTube but it’s put on by individual contributors. There’s kind of a coded way to hunt for it each weekday to avoid the copyrights. Somehow, I usually manage to find a decent upload we can watch.

If one enjoys the old British TV shows, especially crime drama or comedy, a good one to bookmark is titled Opium. I know, weird name, but it’s not what one thinks. 😡 This YouTuber has uploaded A Touch Of Frost, Randall & Hopkirk (Deceased), Inspector Lewis, Morse, Endeavor, Blandings, Chasing Shadows, The Village, Tinker Tailor Solder Spy, Smiley’s People, etc. We have some of these on DVD’s but if I’m feeling lazy I’ll “cast” them with Chromecast to the TV from my computer. The picture quality is not as good as a DVD but that’s OK. I know most of them by heart anyway.

Lastly, there’s many other YouTubers who have shared uploads that I like that are film noir. For newer films I’ve bookmarked the YouTube Movies & Shows. This is from the YouTube company. Every now and again we’ll pay to watch a film ($3.99 rental) but mostly we watch the free ones. There are Australian movies that are our favorite family friendly: Red Dog, Danny Deckchair, etc. Another good one is Mystery Road (2013) but it’s not suitable for kids. It has violence, language and subject matter that squishy young minds should not be watching. I have to mute some of it myself until the offensive character is off screen. But the shoot out near the end is well worth the watch. It’s the most realistic gun battle I’ve ever watched since Saving Private Ryan. Wow.

So, there’s some of my favorites. What’s yours? Feel free to recommend. I’m always on the lookout for a good film or “reality” TV to watch. I wish that HGTV’s Home Town or Good Bones was available on YouTube. I miss those type of shows.

  1. My hubby watches a lot of YouTube documentaries on the Civil War, Trains, animals, all kinds of stuff. Sometimes I watch a few, but it depends on how well they are filmed. I get motion sickness pretty easily watching poor filming so can’t even stay in the room. But we do pay for Sling TV so he can get his sports and other programs he likes, and I can get Maine Cabin Masters and Hometown, etc. We also watch old Perry Mason shows and other old mysteries, etc. We are waiting for the new season of Murdoch Mysteries to start back up in February…I think on Ovation. I mostly just visit people here in blogland and FB and the rest of the time I am doing cooking, housework, or taking a nap. LOL.

    1. I so want the Perry Mason collection, from the 60’s, on DVD’s. That’s still one of my favorite American TV shows.
It’s rainy here today. I might start off with a nap this morning. lol

  2. Liam and I enjoyed Itchy Boots. I haven’t been on YouTube in a while. I did watch things such as the Parisienne Farm Girl and things like that. Dave is on YouTube all the time watching those survivor shows too.

    1. I watch history oriented channels too. There’s a British one (name escapes me) that I really enjoy. Medieval History is my cup of tea. πŸ™‚ I have all the David Starkey books. I also watch a few Christian ones, like In Touch Ministries, and others.

  3. I don’t watch things on Youtube, but your recommendations sound good. Right now I’m watching the new Magnolia Network – I really enjoy the shows on it.

  4. I loved Danny Deckchair. IIRC it stars the nutcase who was in Notting Hill.
I will check out Mystery Road. I was surprised a while back at how many good B/W movies are free on Youtube.
    Then there are these:

  5. I am going to check out Corporal’s Corner. Have you found Peacock TV? The app is free and that is where I found Escape to the Chateau, which I am loving. Do check out Peacock. xo

    1. Free is good. πŸ™‚ Sure, I’ll give Peacock TV a whirl to see if it’s something we’ll both enjoy. Thanks for the recommend.

    1. I collect Medieval history books, especially the Tudor age. That’s kinda my thing. I do have several of the original Nancy Drew books as well. Can’t remember the titles but I did read them awhile ago. That sure brought back memories of my youth! πŸ™‚
