Friday Fotos: Smoke Gets In Your Eyes

There’s a rain storm approaching but this morning started out lovely. It’s about 65 degrees, sunny with a light wind. Time to burn all those deep piles of leaves in the back yard. I love having 6 acres but it can keep one busy.

I’m so glad Steve helped with the raking. I was on the lookout for little critters hiding in the leaf litter but it was Steve who rescued a Redbelly Snake hiding under the giant Chinkapin Oak. He put him out in the woods further back from the house were he’ll be safe to continue on his hunt for bugs.

I planted the Chinapin in 1997 and now it towers over all the other trees. It has the coolest bark, I think. And the leaves are big and pretty in the Spring. It’s a nice change from all the Slash Pine, Loblolly Pine and Red Cedar on our property.

The rain is almost here. There is supposed to be a lot of wind and lightning. β˜‡ I guess it’s time to shut down and enjoy the show. β›ˆοΈ The doggies will need a lap to cuddle on anyway. Jack especially doesn’t like the noise.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope the rest of your day is blessed with kindness, prosperity and joy in Jesus Christ.

  2. I appreciate you taking good care of the redbelly snake, but really, in your hands???? I don’t go that far! I would pick it up with a shovel and place it somewhere else…but never my hands…even tho I am a Florida girl…I draw the line when it comes to snake handling! LOL. That goes for lizards and frogs too. LOL. I think we are supposed to get that rain tonight and tomorrow. It is 81 degrees right now, which is too hot for this day, so I bet we will have some stormy weather. Tomorrow’s high is only going to be 63. That’s more like it. I hope you are all safe and snug inside with your doggies now. I enjoyed this lovely post. Thank you.

    1. Redbellies are non-venomous. I never have had a fear of critters. Even poisonous ones can be handled if done correctly. I try to almost always save the wildlife whenever possible.
Yeah, 81 is way too warm for this time of year. The storm is here but it’s not bad. It did put the fires out, which is what I planned. The yard is looking a little better anyway. πŸ™‚
I hope you’re both better now. Praying for you and all of us daily.
      Blessings. ❀

  3. Sure hope you had no damage from the storm! The bark on that tree is really lovely! Hunker down and cozy up with a good book! xo

    1. Thanks Terri. We only had some driving rain. I think it was heavier and more violent in Brantley County (south of us). We’re fairly sheltered in Pierce County. I’m not sure why. Many terrible storms have split before reaching us and gone around our County. It was good book reading weather!

    1. “For my sins …”, as the Brit’s are fond of saying. 😁 It’s some work having this much land but I wouldn’t trade it for anything else other than Heaven. It is a quiet, tranquil, free type of living to be sure.
      Blessings. ❀
