Happy St. Patty’s Day!

As many of y’all already know, today is our 44th “date anniversary” as well. Steve & I went on our first date March 17th, 1979 to an inexpensive quaint seafood restaurant called Shrimpy’s in Jacksonville, Florida. The restaurant was off Beach Boulevard on Pottsburg Creek. Sadly, they have been closed for years. And there’s no photos of our date as we didn’t snap pics of everything back then because film wasn’t cheap. Steve next proposed marriage on April 1st. I know, I laughed too, but he came prepared as he gave me a gold bracelet (my first ever of many!) to “seal the deal”. He said he wanted me to know he was serious. Such a sweet guy. I haven’t worn the bracelet in awhile but it’s still in my jewelry armoire.

Sometime in April, we paid a visit to the local Kay Jewelers and picked out wedding rings. We’re still wearing the same rings but my stone is now a sapphire. Opal’s are a delicate stone and it didn’t last.

I give God the glory that the marriage did last. Like everyone else, we’ve had our ups and downs and without His love and guidance, who knows what directions we would have gone in?! Not good ones, I’m sure. Praise God for His love.

And that’s a short history of Us and why we celebrate this day every year. ❤
